How Much Does Car Wrapping Cost?

Car wrapping is a great way to “pimp your ride” and customize the look of your vehicle. There are a lot of questions people have about it and one of the first to pop into people’s minds is “how much does it cost?”

First of all, let’s make sure that everyone knows what it is that we are talking about.  Wrapping is the process of applying vinyl car wrapping to your vehicle. It covers the body and sometimes the windows of your car. It is an alternative to getting a custom paint job and is something that is easily removed so that you don’t need to permanently change the paint of your vehicle.

A quick online search for car wrapping prices will get you very confused, very quickly. Most of the information is not geared toward the general public. Until very recently car wrapping was only for businesses and was considered too expensive for consumers.  Businesses with fleets of vehicles often get them wrapped so all of them look exactly the same, displaying the company logo, slogan and maybe some contact info such as a phone number or website address.

Getting a fleet of business vehicles wrapped involves a custom design and bulk discounts so those prices don’t apply to general consumers who want to get their own personal cars wrapped.  It’s very difficult to get a firm price for this type of thing online because there are a lot of variables.  Variables such as the size and shape of the vehicle which can be determined by the exact make and model of the vehicle only accounts for part of the cost.

The other big factor involved is the graphic design and printing. If you need a graphic artist to come up with a custom design for you it will cost some money. It also costs money to get that design printed on the vinyl material. Printing is done on large industrial printers and is a very specialized operation.  All of this work adds to the cost of getting your car wrapped, not to mention the cost of the vinyl material itself!

The best estimate that I’ve seen for getting your car wrapped is in the range of $2,000 to $3,000. You would have to find a local shop that performs this special procedure and give them a call. I wish I could give you more information but there are too many variables involved to give a generic, one size fits all number.

Because of the high cost of getting your vehicle wrapped, many people look into car wrapping for money.  This is where you get paid to have your car wrapped with someone else’s advertisement.  It’s not a great way to customize your car exactly how you want but it may be an improvement over your current paint job!  This type of car wrapping advertising is a great way to make extra money as long as you are willing to become a driving advertisement.
